School Profile

Berkeley Primary was built on the site of Heston aerodrome in the 1930s, but was rebuilt in 1993. The new building has 'excellent' facilities including a music room, community room, nursery and 'large' playing field. There is also a wildlife conservation area at the front of the school. Berkeley's intake is from a 'highly mobile and vibrant' community from varied ethnic backgrounds with over 50 per cent of pupils speaking English as an additional language. The school, therefore, emphasises the importance of linguistic fluency, drawing from resources such as the 'growing' fiction and non-fiction libraries and the increasing number of computers available throughout the school. Specialist support staff plan individual targets for each pupils learning English as an additional language. Children participate in school trips which includes residential stays for Years 5 and 6.
